Darlene Vivian Cain

Darlene Vivian Cain passed away at the age of 93 on December 31, 2020 at her daughter Gabrielle’s home where she resided. She was born on May 13, 1927, one of 12 children, to Eva Clark Cain and John Cain. Darlene was a kindhearted soul. She always put others before herself. She was politically minded and always kept up on what was happening in the world. She loved Jeopardy and very rarely missed an episode. But most of all she loved the simple things in life like her daily walks to the beach while she resided in South Haven, sunsets, flower gardening, writing poetry in her younger days, sewing, Frank Lloyd Wright homes (which she had the pleasure of living in one during her high school yrs) and road trips down memory lane in which her daughters gladly often indulged in. What made her happiest was hearing the laughter of all her children and the giggles of her grandchildren…and especially watching them grow. Some of her job titles included supervisor at Adams Electronics, manager of the fabric dept. at Hales in South Haven, writing for the Bangor Tribune, owning her own fabric and craft store in Bangor, MI and when she was well in to her 70’s she was an in-resident manager at the Senior Citizen building in Bangor until her family begged her to retire. Darlene is survived by her children, Cynthia (Jack) Watkins of Bangor, Stephanie Lutz of Loganville, GA, Therese (Mark) Wesaw of Punta Gorda, FL, Melanie Landry of South Haven, Gabrielle (Robert) Sefcik of Covert, Joe (Lisa) McFarland of Aurora, CO and Sean (Lisa) McFarland of South Haven; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vivian “VJ” Schroeder; granddaughter, Tammy Hanners; son-in-law, Jimmy Lutz; infant grandson, Michael Krohn and infant great, great granddaughter, Josie Neel. Due to COVID there will be no funeral services at this time. There will be a private family celebration of life at a later date.
