Diane "Rosie" Flinn

Diane “Rosie” Flinn Age 93 Of Gobles Diane passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at White Oaks in Lawton, Michigan. She was born on September 27, 1932, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Bertha Roberts. Her family lived for a while in Piggott, Arkansas, before moving back to the Flint area. On April 23, 1954, she married the love of her life, Douglas Flinn. She worked as an operator for Bell Telephone before she and Doug opened Flinn’s Hobby Shop. After moving to Massachusetts for a short time, they moved to Harrison, Michigan, where they owned and operated Yankee Party Store, Flinn & Sons Appliances, and Mitre-Fine. When Diane wasn’t working she enjoyed cooking for her family. She was best known for making her candy, named "The Favorite Candy," and her wonderful cream puffs. She was a member of the Michigan Homeowners Association. After selling Mitre-Fine, Diane worked as a hostess for a couple of years before eventually retiring. She then enjoyed singing in the church choir and spending time with her family. Her proudest moment came when she graduated from Flint Adult Education in 1992, at the age of 60. In 1996, Diane was crowned Ms. Senior Cumberland County. Diane is survived by her three children, LouAnn (Glen Smith) Bristol, of Three Rivers, Michigan, James (Dixie) Flinn of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and Douglas R. Flinn of Jackson, Michigan; her grandchildren, Emily Bristol, Tony Bristol, Amanda Flinn, Elliot Vanness, Brandi Flinn, Erik Flinn, Alex Flinn, and Curtis Flinn; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Greenwood; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her siblings, Helen Kalman, Dorothy Pearl Keith, Jerry Wayne Roberts, Shirley Roberts, Mary Lee Perna, and Joseph Roberts; a son-in-law, Steve Bristol; and her special friend, Billie “Teri” Mae Oker. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on September 8th, 2025, from 10 AM until time of memorial service at 11 AM at the Bloomingdale Chapel, D.L. Miller Funeral Home, Deacon Jim Bauer officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
