Dorothy M. Moses

Dorothy M. Moses, age 99, of Gobles, left us to meet her Savior January 28 at Life Care Center, Plainwell. She was born September 18, 1913 in Gobles across from the Methodist Church, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Babbitt. She lived her entire life in the Gobles area, graduating from Gobles High School in 1932 and attended Western Normal College and could have been an elementary teacher. On November 1, 1941, she was united in marriage to Ossian B. Moses. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 1998, the year he passed away. Ossian, also a graduate of Northern College, Wisconsin, could have been a high school math teacher. They purchased the Goblesville News and were owners and publishers for 40 years, retiring in 1977. Dorothy was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, a volunteer in many services in the church, school and community. She was always close to the Gobles school, holding many positions in the PTA, and was president when the first banquet was held in the new school. She was proud of family and friends whom she felt everyone was close to her. She appreciated the kind things neighbors, family and others did after the death of her husband in 1998 and the death of her daughter, Linda in 2008; sister, Anna Marguerite Pearson in 1998; brothers, Alfred Babbitt, 1998; Paul Babbitt, 1998; Lawrence Babbitt, 1956; sister-in-law, Ruth Babbitt, 2004. Surviving Dorothy is a daughter Lois (Charles) Bradley, North Lake, Gobles; son-in-law, Gary Sutherland, Plainwell; sister-in-law, Barbara Babbitt, Allegan; brother-in-law, Wilbur Pearson, Plainwell; 4 grandchildren, Larry Areaux, Plainwell; Mark Areaux, Plainwell; David Bradley, and Chris (John) Rousseau, Gobles; 10 great grandchildren, Meighan & Kyle Areaux; Joel and his triplet sisters Jenna, Jordan & Jessicca Areaux; David DeKilder (Brad as he is known); Lauryn Rousseau; Melissa & Ian Bradley; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She and Ossian loved their niece Donna Moses and nephews Evan Johnson and Robert Moses in New Brunswick, Canada. Visitation will be held Wed., February 6, 1-2 PM at the GOBLES CHAPEL, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM. Everyone is invited to gather at the Presbyterian Church in Gobles following the service for a luncheon. The family suggests memorials to the education of her great grandchildren in care of the D. L. Miller Funeral Home or Lois Bradley; 28028 South Shore Dr.; Gobles, MI 49055. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
