Frances Ann Sage

Frances A. Sage Age 87 Of Gobles Passed away peacefully, surrounded by clergy and loved ones who were present both physically and in prayer, Tuesday, May 27, 2025 after a short stay at Maple Lake Assisted Living, Paw Paw. Frances was born April 1, 1938 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Lester and Rose (Spicketts) Griffith and has lived in the Gobles area for the past 64 years. Frances was a graduate of St. Augustine Cathedral School, and Western Michigan University. In 1961 she married the love of her life George Sage, and they had four children. Frances was a lifelong member of the West Hills Chapter of the Kalamazoo Garden Club. She was founding member of St. Jude Catholic Parish, where she served as Director of Religious Education, founding member of the Women’s Guild, Lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She served on numerous boards including The SW Michigan Regional Planning Commission, Gobles Public School Board, and Van Buren Intermediate School Board where she served as president for decades. She was an avid gardener, world traveler, and most enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her beloved grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, George Sage whom she married November 18, 1961; 4 children, Patrick Sage of Kalamazoo, Luke Sage of Gobles, Ellen (David) Brown of Kalamazoo, Bridget (Brendan) Kenny of Edmonton, Canada; 5 grandchildren, Sage Brown, Gregory Brown, Kieran Kenny, Gabriel Kenny, Egan Kenny; 1 brother, John (Chris) Griffith of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Annie Owsiany; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her visiting Angel Holly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Owsiany. There will be a Vigil Service with Rosary, 7:00 PM Sunday, June 1, 2025 at St. Jude Parish, Gobles. On Monday, June 2, 2025 at St. Jude Parish, at 11:00 AM there will be a Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Robert Creagan and Deacon Jim Bauer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomingdale Township. Arrangements entrusted to the Bloomingdale Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, Gobles for beautification of the sanctuary, supporting religious education, and the assistance of families in need.
