In Loving Memory Gertrude Ann Lyzenga On March 11, 2026, Gertrude “Trudi” Ann Lyzenga peacefully joined her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family, at her home in Bangor, Michigan. She was born on January 30, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois to Peter Sr. and Ruth “Lanning” Lindemulder. She graduated from Illiana Christian High School in 1968. She went on to get a degree in nursing from West Suburban Nursing School in the spring of 1970. She married Norman Lyzenga on August 21, 1971. Over her lifetime, she unselfishly poured herself into her six children: Brett (Christina) Lyzenga, Nathan Lyzenga, Jessica Rodriquez, Tricia (Shannon) Scott, Timothy (Carol) Lyzenga, and Charity (Joe) Arkauskas. Along with her children, she is survived by nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by ex-husband Norman (Evelyn) Lyzenga along with three brothers and a sister-in-law: Ron Lindemulder, Jim (Rose) Lindemulder, Gerald (David) Lindemulder and Caryl Lindemulder. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Peter Lindemulder Jr. Trudi worked her entire career as a Registered Nurse First Attending (RNFA). She worked primarily for South Haven Community Hospital in South Haven, Michigan, and Bronson LakeView Hospital in Paw Paw, Michigan towards the end of her career. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, camping with her family, and gardening. She enjoyed traveling to the West Coast and Alaska to visit her brothers, Ron and Jerry. Another highlight for her was doing what she called “Grandma Days”. She would take time with each of her grandchildren and spend the day taking a trip and/or doing a special outing with them one on one. She and the children really enjoyed that time together. Trudi was a very loving, supportive, and caring person that will be missed greatly by all who knew her. She will be laid to rest in a private ceremony, by her family. There will be a Celebration of Life, which will be held on May 23, 2026, from 12pm – 4pm at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church (115 East Monroe Street, Bangor, MI).
