Joyce A. Fornoff

Joyce A. Fornoff, age 86, of Gobles, passed away peacefully at her home in Gobles with her family by her side. She was the daughter of Freeman and Bernice Way, born on July 2, 1936, in Kalamazoo, MI. She grew up in the Kendall area, where she attended Gobles Public Schools. After 11th grade she went to work for Kalamazoo Laundry. Not long after working for the laundry, her childhood friend, John, came home on leave and took her to Kansas where they began their 66-year love affair. She followed her husband all over the world for 17 years. In 1967, they moved their family back to Gobles where they finally settled down. After they settled down, she went to work for Production Rubber, where she worked until 1980 and then went to work for EPC in Mattawan, where she retired from in 1996. After retirement, they traveled all over the country. When they weren’t traveling, she loved painting Christmas ceramics with her grandkids and throwing parties for her family. She always had an open door for anyone who wanted to stop by. At Christmas time she made sure everyone had a gift under the tree and homemade candies, cookies and jellies to take home. She is survived by her children, John Fornoff, Jr. of Gobles, Judith Slack of Gobles, Jean (John) Mollitor of Gobles, and Jennette (Alan) Ackerman of Paw Paw; grandkids, Michael R., Stephanie, Michael S., Christopher, April, Nicole, John, Sabrina, and Devan; 12 great-grandkids; her sister, Nancy Baker, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sr., a son-in-law, Mike Slack; and siblings, Freeman Way, Jr., Patricia Schmidt, Robert Way, Donald Way, and Debra Bell. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will meet friends on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 5-6:30 PM with a memorial service beginning at 6:30 PM at the Gobles Chapel of the D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Private burial will take place at a later date.
