Marion M. Schiele

Marion M. Schiele, age 87, of Bangor passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo surrounded by her family. Marion was born on April 5, 1920 in Chicago, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Meingassner) Wilkening. On May 4, 1946, she married Richard Schiele at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Chicago. Growing up a city girl, Marion moved to their new home, a farm, in Bangor after her marriage. With a newly built house that didn't yet have all the necessities, she had to learn quickly how to adapt to things such as no running water. While raising her family and taking care of her home, she worked at various jobs; McCabe's store and the Bangor Public Schools in the kitchen, are a just a couple. Marion was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was involved in many areas of its Christian Service; and for many years, along with her dear friend, Dorothy Johnson, they organized and prepared the funeral luncheons. Marion loved her family and was always concerned for their well being; she was always pointing her finger and saying to them "you be careful". She enjoyed being with people. Surviving are children, Richard (Sally) Schiele of Bangor, Judy (Jack) Butler of Paw Paw, Steven (Linda) Schiele of Schoolcraft, Geralyn (Mark) Monacelli of South Haven; grandchildren, Laura (Jeff) Roe, Joseph Schiele, Kevin Schiele, Andy (Rose) Butler, Jennifer Butler and her fiance Terry Baker, Matt (Michele) Butler, Luke (Mandi) Butler, Ashley Schiele, Michael Monacelli, Adam Monacelli and Christopher Monacelli; great grandchildren, Megan Roe, Emily Roe, Stephanie Easley, Andrew Butler, Aubrey Butler, Gauge Butler, Briar Butler and Anya Butler; and many nieces and nephews. Marion was called to share her date of death with her husband, Richard, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1994 at the age of 87 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Carl, Frank and Raymond Wilkening; a sister, Elizabeth Wilkening; a granddaughter, Linda Michelle Schiele; and a great granddaughter, Janet Ann Roe. The family will meet friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home with a scripture service at 7:00 PM. The family will also meet friends at Sacred Heart after 10:00 AM Monday , where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM with Fr. John Peter, celebrant. Interment will follow in Arlington Hill Cemetery, Bangor. The family suggest memorials to Sacred Heart's Christian Service.
