Rose Barber

Rose Barber, age 83, of Paw Paw, went to be with her Lord and joined her daughter, Elaine, Wednesday morning, March 12, 2008 surrounded by her loving family at home. Rose was born May 6, 1924 in Barton City, Michigan, the 5th of eleven children born to John and Sophia Miks . She is survived by her husband of 66 years Stanley R. Barber, whom she was united in marriage to on June 7, 1941 in Mikado, MI. Rose is also survived by her children: David (Marilyn) Barber of Gobles, Robert (Sandi) Barber of Alva, Florida, Dale (Jim) Ray of Paw Paw, Paul (Marilyn) Barber of Grand Junction, Tim (Kim) Barber of Gobles, Cynthia (Greg) Straka of Mattawan, Steve (Sue) Barber of Lawton, Sharon (Joe) George of Mattawan, Rosanne (Steve) Adams of Gobles, Phillip (Angie) Barber of Santa Ana, CA, and son-in-law, Wayne Taylor of Mattawan. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and 49 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, her daughter, Elaine, and two infant grandsons. Rose was a steadfast prayer warrior and her children, grandchildren and friends were constantly upheld in her prayers. She was very active in church, teaching Sunday School, nursery programs, and later in life a senior program. Rose was a living example of a loving helpmate; working alongside her husband in farming and running their coin laundry business in Paw Paw. Most evenings she and her husband enjoyed challenging their minds with endless hours of playing various table games. For many years every Tuesday, Rose along with her dear friend Evelyn, visited several homebound ladies; encouraging them with their visits, often playing table games and sharing a lunch with them. She loved to entertain, garden, embroidery, was an avid reader, but most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Above all these she loved her Heavenly Father.The family will receive friends and family on Friday, March 14 from 2 -4 and 6 – 8 PM and Saturday, March 15 from 9:30 -10:30 AM at the Evangelical Mennonite Church, 425 Nursery St., Lawton MI. . Services will be held at the church on Saturday March 15 at 10:30 AM.
