Barney J. Whitmore

Barney J. Whitmore of Bangor, Michigan, passed away January 6, 2020 in Frisco, Texas, he was born on May 30, 1940 in Nashville, Arkansas to the late Mr. Walter Whitmore and Ester (Graves) Whitmore. He was one of eight children born in this union. He married the late Barbara (Johnson) Whitmore in 1964 and from this union his son, Bradlyn Whitmore and daughter, Brennell Whitmore were born. Barney entered the US Army in 1964 and he worked for 30 years as a machinist at Bohn Aluminum in South Haven Michigan prior to retirement. He then enjoyed traveling to family reunions, sporting events and back to attend his Childress High School reunions in Nashville, Arkansas. He lived in his home of 52 years in Bangor, Michigan prior to a brief relocation to Center Meadows in Portage Michigan where he was diligently cared for by his friend, Sandra, and then finally relocating to Beehive Assisted Living in Frisco, Texas to be near his daughter. This is where he spent his final days battling Multiple Systemic Atrophy in the care of a devoted team of hospice providers and selected private caregivers. Barney was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ester and Walter Whitmore; Brothers - Glenn and JT Whitmore; Sisters- Walsie Whitmore, Charlie Mae Whitmore Jones, Verdell Mathis, and Nella Jean Booth. Barney leaves to morn in his passing and cherish his memory his Son Bradlyn- (Phoenix, AZ) and Daughter Brennell Whitmore, (Dallas, TX); Two stepsons, Chancelor and Terence Whitmore (Dallas, Tx); Two Grandchildren- Cameron Whitmore and Sasha Whitmore; and two Great-grand sons, Xavier and Jaxson Whitmore; One Brother R.T. Whitmore of (Bangor, MI); One sister Norlean Whitmore (Detroit, MI) and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. Barney truly touched the lives of many people with his smile and gentle spirit and is already missed by his family, friends, and care team.
