Gilberta L. Evans, age 98, of Gobles, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at her home. Gilberta was born October 1st, 1923 in Pine Grove Township, daughter of the late Duane and Opal Smith, and lived her entire life in the Gobles area. Gilberta loved being a housewife and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Gilberta was an active member of the Gobles United Methodist Church and had worked for the Bethany Nursing Home for many years. She and her husband, Gene, enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. Gilberta was a very generous woman and was always willing to help anyone in need. Surviving is her brother, John G. Smith; sister, Betty J. Overacker; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, who passed in 1993; siblings, Duane Smith, Harold Smith and Beverly Smith. The family will meet friends on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 11 AM until time of funeral services at Noon, Pastor Carol Newman officiating, at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Robinson Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Caring Circle Hospice.
