Linda S. McVey

November 9, 1941 - February 17, 2021

Linda Sue McVey passed away and went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 17, 2021. She was born in Lawrence, Michigan on November 9, 1941 to Richard and Myrtle Damaske. Linda went to school in her early years at the New Tribes Mission school in Tambo, Bolivia, South America while her parents served as missionaries to the Ayore Indians. After 5 years they returned to the USA and Linda attended and graduated from Bangor High School in Bangor, Michigan. She then went to school in St Louis and graduated as a Medical Technologist. After working as a Medical Technologist for some years, she felt God’s call to serve Him as a missionary so she went to Bible School in Waukesha, Wisconsin where she met her husband Barney McVey whom she married 49 years ago. They joined New Tribes Mission (now Ethnos 360), completed their training and left for Senegal, West Africa where they served for 12-1/2 years. After returning to the USA, the mission requested that they serve at training camps. Later they joined mission headquarters in Florida working there for many years. Although retired, they continued to serve in their church. Linda is survived by her husband, Barney McVey; her son, Philip McVey; her daughter, Susan McVey; her siblings Martha Snearly (Roland, deceased); Pearl Jean Bouwens (Randy); David Damaske (Judy-deceased); and Robert Damaske (Karen); and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Linda was a sweet, compassionate, generous lady who loved God and committed her life in service to the Lord she loved. She is greatly missed. Linda’s funeral service will be at East Arlington Baptist Church, 40040 48th street, Lawrence, Michigan at 11:30am. Visitation from 10-11:30am. A memorial service will be held at Fort Smith Boulevard Baptist Church in Deltona Florida. Arrangements entrusted to the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home.
