Michael L. Chaney Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Michael L. Chaney, age 62, of Gobles passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Michael was the son of Roman and Lorene Chaney, born on September 12, 1959, in Kalamazoo, MI. Michael was a graduate of Vicksburg High School where he grew up and lived most of his life before moving to Gobles in 2002 with his son, Adam Chaney, who survives him. Michael attended KVCC for a couple of years. Afterwards he worked for KRESA in Kalamazoo for over 30 years before retiring in 2007. He was a custodial engineer for most of his time there, but his greatest pleasure working there was helping the kids who lived there. After retiring he enjoyed fishing, going to renaissance fairs, watching all facets of sports, but mainly watching the Michigan State Spartans beat up on the Michigan Wolverines. He also enjoyed watching the WWE and AEW with his son and spending time with his family. Besides his son, Adam, he is also survived by his step-kids, Brandy Taylor and Josh Taylor of Kalamazoo; grandkids, Elijah, Jayden, and Taven Fager; siblings, Justin (Janis), Stanley (Della), David, Tim (Julie), and Sharon Chaney, and Carmen (Noah) Moffit; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandy Fickle. Michael's family will meet friends on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Gobles Chapel of the D.L. Miller Funeral Home (www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com) where the funeral service will follow at 12 PM with Pastor Sheila Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with his funeral costs.
