Al David Adams

Al David Adams, fondly known as Dave or David, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Battle Creek MI. on September 26, 1946, to Carl and Margarethe (Marge) Adams, the youngest of nine children. From a young age, Dave learned the value of hard work, integrity, and craftsmanship. At just 10 years old, he began working alongside his father building homes—a beginning that shaped his lifelong love for construction. He continued learning the trade with his brother Clarence (Kernel), working alongside him for several years until Kernel’s passing. This work became more than a career; it became a calling. Dave attended Bloomingdale Schools, where he played basketball and met the love of his life, Sharon Stone. On January 28, 1964, they were married, beginning a lifelong journey built on love, faith, and family. Together they welcomed three children—Tracie, Todd, and Chris—and raised a family rich with love and lessons rooted in faith. A devoted member of the Christian Church, Dave’s faith was the foundation of his greatest legacy: teaching his family about faith through both word and example. For many years, he served as the sound technician for the church’s singing group, the New Life Singers, and he joyfully portrayed Thomas in the church’s Easter play. Professionally, Dave worked for several years at Eaton and later at Checkers Automotive before pursuing his dream of becoming a general contractor. Known not only as a hardworking builder but also as a true craftsman with an artistic approach to construction, he later became a well-respected log home builder. Dave mentored generations of builders within his family, shaping the lives of nephews, grandsons, and many others who came to know him as a beloved mentor and teacher through his wisdom, patience, and steady encouragement. Beyond his work, Dave embraced life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed watching football, mushroom hunting, and fishing. He took immense pride in watching his grandchildren succeed in school, sports, and life, celebrating every milestone with heartfelt enthusiasm. Dave retired in 2001 but never stopped giving. He helped his daughter and son-in-law, along with his son and grandchildren, build an adult foster care company, Cornerstone. For many years, he headed the maintenance team, offering experience, insight, and encouragement. Through his actions, he taught dependability, passion, and faith, touching the lives of many throughout his career. Dave was a quiet, peaceful soul—a steady anchor for his family, a source of calm strength, and a gentle presence who brought comfort to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margarethe (Marge) Adams, and siblings William (Bill), Clarence (Kernel), Virginia (Ginny), Martha, and Violet. Dave is lovingly survived by the love of his life, Sharon; his children Tracie (John) Hernandez, Todd (Robin) Adams, and Chris (Amy) Adams; and his grandchildren Amber (Jack) Bunce, Karmen (Derek) Ball, Britny (Shiron) Williams, Jonathan (Jena) Hernandez, Jesse Hernandez, Roudel Hernandez, Bryan (Malina) Adams, Seth (Khali) Adams, Tina Hernandez, Alyssa (Clayton) Upson, and Kristen (Brady) Roberts. He was also blessed with 26 great-grandchildren and leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to grow. Dave’s memory will forever live in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him—as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, faithful servant, skilled craftsman, and beloved mentor.
