Donna Revilla

Donna J. Gumpert-Revilla age 95 of South Haven Went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2018. She was born November 28, 1922 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Newton) Harris. Donna grew up on various farms in Van Buren County. Her family was a very close knit family, and she was especially close with her sisters. Donna is remembered for her patience and love taking care of her sisters and brothers. Donna graduated from South Haven High School in 1939. She married Edward G. Gumpert on June 24, 1949 and later settled down on a farm in Lacota, MI. There they started a family and had four very active boys. Donna held various jobs while raising her family; she was a hairdresser, worked at Fischels Style Shop and Gown Shop as a retail clerk, and as a South Haven School bus driver. Donna also helped her husband raise chickens and handled the egg route. Her sons loved their Mother and said she was the best Mother in the world. Donna was known for her baking skills and cooking. She made wonderful rolls, bread, pies and cakes. Everyone loved her cinnamon rolls and couldn't wait for them to come out of the oven. She loved to garden and read. She had many beautiful flowers that she would share with others and how to grow them. Donna remarried in November 1978 to Thomas Revilla and spent 8 happy years in Johnson City, TN. Donna was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Johnson City, TN and then became a member at Peace Lutheran Church, South Haven and participated in the ladies Priscilla Circle. Donna loved the family get togethers and especially the Harris-Newton Reunion every summer. She would start baking goodies early for the reunion and everyone loved her pies and rolls. Donna is preceded in death by her first husband, Edward G. Gumpert; second husband, Thomas Revilla; brothers, Larry Harris, Robert Harris, Leighton "Dutch" Harris, Eugene Harris, Everett Harris; and sister, Charlotte Harris. Surviving are her 4 sons, Edward (Lisa) Gumpert of Aztec, New Mexico, David (Debbie) Gumpert of South Haven, Mark (April) Gumpert of Grand Junction, Bret Gumpert of Grand Junction; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Carpenter, Betty Hinz, Mary (Ron) Holden-Hart, Judy (David) Thar; and a brother, Alan (Lois) Harris. The family will meet friends from 10 AM until noon Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Bangor Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home where the funeral service will be at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Mark Congrove officiating. Interment will follow in Chambers Cemetery, Geneva Township, MI.
